NSW: CSU to protest over stalled pay negotiations

Teachers and staff at Charles Sturt University are planning to protest outside student
graduation ceremonies over stalling talks on pay and conditions.

The National Tertiary Education Union says staff will start their protests today at
the Wagga Wagga campus before repeating the action at its Albury and Bathurst campuses.

The union has rejected the university's offer of a 20 per cent pay rise over three
years because it wants 24 per cent over four years.

Negotiations have been dragging on for about 18 months.

The decision to protest comes a day after the university said it will increase HECS
fees by 25 per cent from 2006, a move condemned by staff and students.
