Qld: Accused extortionist "a risk", court told

BRISBANE, Jan 16 AAP - A man accused of extortion and poisoning painkillers with strychnine
was today refused bail after a court was told he posed a commercial risk to two pharmaceutical
companies.

A judge also rejected a plan to allow bail on condition the accused be subject to house arrest.

Dennis Donald Fountain, 62, retired, of Chapel Hill in Brisbane's west, is charged
with three counts of extortion, two of production contamination, two counts of attempted
murder, two of malicious poisoning and one of fraud.
